Why Does It Take So Many Adjustments?

This is Dr. Casey. I just wanted to take the time today to answer a question that some of my patients have asked. Why does it take so many repeated visits to fix the problem? That’s a great question! The important thing for you to understand (think back to the x-rays we took) you likely saw some damage in your spine or mis-alignment where the spine is shifting out of place. It’s important for you to understand that the problem you see in those x-rays took months, and in many cases years to develop. In fact, most of the time, damage took place before you even experienced your very first symptom. Damage usually builds from a lifetime of poor posture, bad habits and stress building up, affecting your spine and nervous system. It also takes time and repetition to fix the problem.

When you think of anything to do with health, whether it be trying to lose weight, increase flexibility and get healthy. When you go to the gym, you don’t reach your goals by working out once, you actually have to go three or four times a week to see the benefits of working out. When you start a new diet; you’re not going to eat one good meal and see results. You are need to eat two or three or four good meals a day to reap the benefits of eating right. If you want to become great at playing the piano, you will need to practice three to five times a week before you become good at playing the piano. It is the exact same thing; we are repeatedly training the muscles, the joints and the ligaments so that the spine can actually start to shift back in its proper position. Like anything else in life, it’s going to take time. I wanted to take time to explain that to you. I look forward to speaking to you again on the next video.
